Uncle Ray's Dairyland in Fenton Has Ice Cream Before Spring!!

Anyone who has been to Fenton, Michigan knows that the premier family destination is Uncle Ray's Dairyland. It's a micro-creamery chock full of tasty homemade ice cream treats. Uncle Ray's recently put some major funding into an outdoor renovation that'll extend Fentonite's outdoor ice cream eating season by a couple of months. Uncle Ray's Dairyland reopened on Valentine's Day, probably because people love it so much.

Fenton's February 2008 Lunar Eclipse

Residents of Fenton, Michigan and surrounding areas were treated to a clear sky on February 21, 2008. This was the night of a spectacular lunar eclipse visible to most of those residing in the Americas. Fenton was no exception. The moon appeared large and bright on the horizon, and went through a series of optical changes between approximately the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. ET.

What is Extreme Athletic Training?

Extreme Athletic Training in Fenton
Extreme Athletic training is about closing the gap between average results and extraordinary results. Developing and building a body that is not only aesthetic but extremely athletic as well.

I am sure some of you reading this are saying “I don’t care about being functional or being able to leap over tall buildings in a single bound”. But what if I were to tell you there is a training tool that would give you the “look” you want but also give you a body that is performance charged – strong, energetic, flexible and athletic – without any extra time/stuff added? Actually, it would reduce the time you spend in the gym and trust me on this one – there is a unique confidence that comes with having a physique that not only looks good but is capable.

Interested? I was and that is exactly the reason I started Kettlebell training. I have been involved in the martial arts and various athletics for 22 years. I have always been on the look out for something that would make me punch/kick harder, last longer and be more athletic. Kettlebells provided the answer.

Extreme Athletic training is about closing the gap between average results and extraordinary results. Developing and building a body that is not only aesthetic but extremely athletic as well.

The exercises you do with a Kettlebell are full body movements and thus provide all around conditioning. That is why you spend less time in the gym. You can work your entire body with k-bell exercises in 20-40 min or you can spend hours in the gym trying to work each individual muscle group in isolation. Furthermore, think about it, in what real world situation or athletic activity do your individual muscle groups work in isolation?

In addition to shortening your time in the gym and requiring your body to work as a unit, Kettlebell exercises also require you to balance yourself without the assistance of typical gym machines that do it for you. The benefit – your body becomes “intelligent/connected” and more resistant to injury.

Still not sold? Okay, full body exercises have been shown over and over to burn more fat and build more muscle than any isolation movement in existence. So again, you can have the body you want and have the performance enhancement as a nice benefit in the background.

I look forward to training with you!!

All the best,
Ken Blackburn
American Kettlebell Club Coach

Virtual Video Tour "The Eats of Fenton" Burger Battle #12 -- TeeBone'Z

This is the twelfth entry into the Burger Battle on FentonSays.com as part of the "Eats of Fenton" video series. TeeBone'z is just over the railroad tracks off of Silver Lake Road in Fenton, Michigan. We've generally not been thrilled with the service here, but on this day the service was perfect. And the burger, well, the burger was absolutely amazing! One half pounder stacked with great toppings, and for a couple of bucks more you can get it with a side of onion rings. In our experience, it is hard to find perfect onion rings. TeeBone'Z had them! Perfect, golden, crispy onion rings where the onion doesn't pull out and slap you on the lip when you bite into them. We featured their half pound burger, but we also have a quick clip of their version of a "slider." It was all good. You'll enjoy this!

Fenton is a Winter Wonderland

Let it snow! Let it snow! Let it snow! Fenton, Michigan is now covered in a fresh blanket of that white powdery substance called snow. The last couple of days has been the second snow dump session of the season. We're guessing Mt. Holly and Mt. Brighton are loving this.

The first big snow of the season was on December 16, 2007. The Fenton area got nearly a foot of snow! Schools were obviously closed.

In this article, FentonSays also presents a video from the Flint Journal, documenting the December snow season and all of the fun us Michiganders are able to enjoy this time of year. Today is a good day to huddle up inside, watch this video presentation and perhaps even dig back through the FentonSays archives (links in the left column) to reminisce a little.

Snow ball fights, building snow forts, skiing, sledding, tobogganing, making snow angels ... whatever your favorite winter activity, be safe out there!!

In the meantime, imagine sitting on the hard wood of the bleacher seats and feast your eyes on some nice footwork and point scoring. Go Tigers!!

Help AFP Fight Higher Taxes in Michigan!

Hundreds of taxpayers descended on the Michigan State Capitol on April 18, 2007, for a rally cosponsored by Americans for Prosperity. Here is their YouTube video highlighting the demonstration in Lansing and the numerous job killing taxes that have been imposed on the citizenry.

Don't fall prey to the slimy political rhetoric claiming that a "property tax shift" isn't a tax increase. Don't fall for the lies that Granholm will raise taxes on the corporations so the citizens don't have to pick up the tab (that's not how pricing works, the purchasers of products and services here in Michigan ultimately pay for the tax in the pricing of the goods or services). Don't roll over and accept the new service tax that was passed in near secrecy in the middle of the night (and wasn't our Governor talking about a 2% service tax, yet the politicians passed a 6% tax plan?).

Businesses create jobs. Plain and simple. Jobs pay people. People who get paid have money to pay their bills and stay where they live. Kill the jobs, stop the paychecks, force people to move to find employment. It's Economics 101. We must break the cycle of dependency ... of the State Government. We must embrace policies that foster job creation and economic growth.

To join AFP's fight for lower taxes and less wasteful government spending in Michigan and around the country, visit www.AFPMI.com or www.AmericansForProsperity.org.

Virtual Video Tour "The Eats of Fenton" Burger Battle #11 -- O'Dooley's

O'Dolley's, formerly known as Bubba O'Dooley's, previously known as The Heritage, has one fine burger. Found at 1243 North Leroy Street in Fenton, Michigan this formerly breakfast diner turned Irish pub knows its way around a ground beef patty. We're not terribly impressed with the value of many of the food items on this menu, however you won't go wrong with their cheeseburgers and fries.

This is entry number eleven in the FentonSays.com Burger Battle. The featured video tour will give you a flavor for all of the good eats available to residents and visitors of Fenton, Michigan.
