GOLF OUTING TO BENEFIT RIGHT TO LIFE

Golf enthusiasts will have the opportunity to have some fun while supporting a good cause at the same time this upcoming Labor Day. The Freedom Center Church will be hosting a golf outing to benefit The Fenton Area Right to Life Organization on Monday September 4th at one of Michigan’s top ten public courses, the Coyote Preserve Golf Club of Fenton. The day will be packed with various chances to win prizes, a continental breakfast, lunch at the turn, dinner and an awards banquet. Golfers will be playing 18 holes in the 4 person scramble format, with singles, twosomes and threesomes placed into 4 person teams. The $500 donation for a foursome or a $125 donation for an individual will include use of a cart, the open driving range from 7:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m., a gift package and a ticket for a door prize drawing as well as the meals mentioned. The organizers of the event stated that they wanted to make sure that participants felt like they were getting a good value for their donation and have secured prizes for several contests including longest drive and closest to the pin for both men and women in addition to the 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes. If anyone is lucky enough to get a hole-in-one, Hartland Insurance has sponsored a $10,000 prize.
The idea for the event was presented to the church by Court Downs as a fellowship opportunity. Church administrator, Jeff Waltz suggested using it as a fund raiser for The Fenton Area Right to Life Organization. A committee was formed to organize the event that included Jeff Waltz, Court Downs, Tom Houle and George Hameline. The Freedom Center Church enjoys and embraces community involvement so this was a welcomed opportunity.
Fenton Right to Life is a local independent entity that governs its’ own funds to the particular needs of the surrounding community supporting many of the areas crisis pregnancy centers. The primary interest of the organization is to protect the precious gift of human life from the time of conception until natural death with a focus on educating the public on issues such as abortion and euthanasia. Fenton Right to Life has been serving women since 1984. Waltz stated that, “Right to Life aids young ladies during crisis pregnancies by supplying them with the tools and character they will need for their journey into motherhood and this is a cause The Freedom Center feels compelled to support”.
This is just one of many outreach efforts the church has taken on in the past year. “This is the first time we’ve done a golf outing, the response has been great and we hope to make this an annual event”, Waltz added. The sign up deadline for the golf outing is August 22nd. Business sponsors for the event include WSNL 600 Christian Talk Radio, Statewide Stone Fireplaces and Chimneys, Maximum Data Solutions, P&D Fertilizing, Aretha & Associates Insurance and Hartland Insurance. Sponsorships for holes, tees, towels, driving range, greens, carts and dinner are still available.
