Sat. 7/1/06 - FENTON HIGH SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION REUNIONS

An All-Class, All-School Triennial Reunion will be held on Saturday, July 1st 2006. The date was chosen to accommodate those who wish to participate in Fenton's Freedom Festival on July 4th.

Over 500 former students of FHS are expected to attend. The banquet will be held in the Gymnasium of the Fenton High School. The Master of Ceremonies will be Jerry Chene '57, and his wife, FHSAA President Nancy (Jarvis) Chene, '58 will make the introductions of the special guests and Hall of Fame inductees.

The Alumni Choir under the direction of Dan Cotcher '53 will provide a musical program ending in 'Stand Up And Cheer' which always brings the assembly to their feet singing our school fight song. Those wishing to join the choir should indicate this interest on their ticket application or by email.

The main portion of the program was the induction of six alumni into the Fenton High School Hall of Fame. Russell d. Haddon, '32 , Russell H. Van Gilder Jr., '53 and Robert J. Dery, '43 who have been previously selected will be formally inducted at this time. In addition, the Hall of Fame committee is considering several other worthy alumni for recognition and induction at this time.

The 'Hospitality Room' in which school and class memorabilia is on display will be open to all alumni and friends. many of whom will attend the banquet. We have found that the 'Hospitality Room' provides for many 'reunions' outside the banquet event. Alumni who are not attending the banquet frequently visit the room in search of former classmates.

Financially, the banquet needs to operate within its budgeted goals. The limited 'seed' money, used to meet the Association's expenses before ticket sales are realized, is expected to be replenished from the proceeds of the banquet, membership dues and other gifts. The Scholarship Fund is invested and no part of the fund is available for other expenses. As of September 1st the Scholarship Fund balance was $277,899.

If you are considering making a donation to the Association, please consider giving an 'Unrestricted' gift to provide the monies required to 'keep the flame burning' from year to year. While our expenses are minimal between the Triennial Reunions, there are some costs incurred in maintaining our website and database and just doing ordinary business. Small contributions are very much appreciated!

Several classes hold their individual Class Reunions in conjunction with the All School, All Class Triennial Reunion. Other classes scheduled reunion dates completely removed from the 'Big' reunion. The Association is requesting that when considering and planning an individual class reunion during 2006, they seriously consider the advantages of scheduling their event in conjunction with the All-School reunion. This arrangement allows those attending the opportunity to not only renew friendships with their classmates, but also visit with others from other classes who were in high school at the same time. Again, the next Triennial Reunion will be on Saturday, July 1, 2006.
